Olu of Arigbajo, Oba Timothy Mosaku, Dies at 89

His family confirmed the development on Friday and announced that a wake-keeping will be held on Thursday, September 25, at the palace, while the funeral service takes place the next day at St. John’s Anglican Church, Arigbajo.

Born in 1936, Oba Mosaku rose through the traditional hierarchy, becoming Otun Baale in 2001, Baale in 2008, and officially gazetted as Oba in 2010. His coronation was performed by the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo.

Before ascending the throne, he worked with Vono Foam, CSS Bookshop, and Alumaco Nigeria Limited, holding leadership roles in each. Educated in Abeokuta and Ijebu-Ode, he later earned a Master’s degree in Journalism.

The monarch was known for his inclusive spirit, often saying he embraced Christianity, Islam, and traditional religion as a king for all.
