Officials described the judgment as a major milestone, noting that it brings relief to many Nigerians whose lives and livelihoods have been disrupted by violence linked to Ekpa’s activities. The government said the ruling also marks a boost in diplomatic ties between Nigeria and Finland.

For years, Ekpa has been accused of inciting violence through the Indigenous People of Biafra, leading to widespread killings, destruction of property, and displacement of families in parts of the country. The court’s decision, authorities said, reaffirms the global resolve against extremism and shows that justice eventually catches up with those who foment terror.

The Tinubu administration reiterated its commitment to defending Nigeria’s sovereignty and protecting its citizens, stressing that it will continue to deploy all available diplomatic, security, and legal measures to preserve peace and unity.

Government also appealed to those still engaged in armed struggle under Ekpa’s influence to surrender their weapons and choose reconciliation, insisting that Nigeria’s future can only be built on peace and togetherness.

Appreciation was extended to the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Armed Forces, the police, intelligence services, and the Ministry of Justice for their role in safeguarding the nation.

The government urged Nigerians at home and abroad to see the judgment as a turning point and to work collectively for national stability and unity.
